According to Edison’s website, a permit is required if an individual wishes to construct, enlarge, alter, or demolish a structure. If you wish to build a new patio, a permit is required.

An applicant must submit three sets of a completed permit application along with copies of the construction plans. Please note, the applicant can do his/her own drawings for his own single-family dwelling or by a New Jersey licensed architect or engineer.
